In this album, we’ve attempted to capture the essence of an era shrouded in mystery and partially forgotten – a time of myths and legends, of gods and warriors, where the boundary between the earthly and spiritual realms was as thin as a veil.
Our main inspiration came from the majesty and mystery of the Gundestrup Cauldron, a silver artifact dating back to the Iron Age, discovered in Denmark. This cauldron, with its detailed engravings depicting deities, mythological creatures, and ritual scenes, serves as a window into the past, an echo of the ancient Celtic peoples’ beliefs.
The images carved on the cauldron have come to life in our songs, becoming the centerpiece of a narrative that explores themes such as:
- The sacredness of Nature: deities like Cernunnos, lord of the forest, and the power of ancient woods.
- Epic battles and warriors’ courage: the energy of the wild hunt, Taranis’s celestial fury, and the strength of the goddess riding her chariot among mythological creatures.
- Rites of passage and transformation: the cauldron as a place of rebirth, the journey of souls through dark waters, and the encounter with the unknown.
- The positive aspects of darkness: light penetrates darkness bringing life, and time transforms stardust into everything we are.
A bit of history: the Gundestrup Cauldron is considered one of the finest examples of Celtic Iron Age art, dating back to the 2nd or 1st century BC. Its intricate decorations have sparked numerous interpretations, but its ritual function is generally accepted. It is believed to have been used in religious ceremonies or initiation rites, during which the stories engraved on the cauldron were told and recreated.
In ‘Echoes of the Ancient Grove’, we’ve sought to recreate not only the stories told by the cauldron but also the magical atmosphere of those times, accompanying you with sounds ranging from gentle melodies to power metal rhythms, from moments of calm to sonic storms. Each track is a journey in itself, an immersive experience that will transport you to a world of legends.
We aimed to make our audience feel the power, majesty, and mystery of a distant yet ever-present world, helping them find a connection with ancient Celtic traditions. Listen carefully, for the voices of the past still resonate, whispering secrets that wait only to be discovered.
